Nestled inside the historic town of New Market, Lake Linganore is a small community consisting of “villages” which are essentially neighborhoods. Country living at its best, these villages center on a system of lakes, the centerpiece of which is Lake Linganore, a 210-acre reservoir built on Linganore Creek, and the largest privately owned lake in the state. The community has its own newspaper, Lake Talk, which includes articles on local topics.
Lake Linganore is an outdoor enthusiast’s fream. With over 30 miles of wooded hiking trails, thousands of trees, four lakes, three sandy beaches, a lakeside esplanade, three swimming pools, an 18-hole golf course, ten recreation and picnic areas, volleyball, basketball and tennis courts, three sports fields, and great fishing, there is something for everyone. And that doesn’t even include the movie nights, a farmers’ market, and block parties!
Trails are a combination of wooded and lakeside trails, asphalt and concrete pathways, wooden bridges and steps, tunnels and one esplanade. Trails are periodically marked with green posts with a gold community logo. Volunteers and Staff work together to keep trails clear of debris and encroaching vegetation.
